Special Requirement for Projects of $1 Million or More

As of May 29, 2026, anyone applying for a building or construction permit for projects costing over $1 million is required by law to submit a declaration confirming that all workers under the permit have valid workers' compensation coverage for the duration of the permit. Per Colorado Senate Bill 26-093, this declaration must be filed with the local permitting agency before work begins. Employers can use the DOWC's Declaration of Compliance form (opens in a new window) to fulfill this requirement.
